Trademarks

The MIT licence covers this repository's code, schemas and metadata. It doesnot cover the logos. Every mark distributed here belongs to its owner. Nothing about this repository transfers, dilutes, or licenses those rights.

What that means in practice

Reproducing a logo to identify the thing it names is normally fine. That is nominative use, and it is why a comparison table can show competitor logos and why your app can show a bank's mark next to a linked account.

Typical safe uses

  • Showing a bank's logo beside a user's linked account
  • A payment method picker displaying UPI app icons
  • An account aggregator consent screen naming the FIP
  • Documentation or a comparison table referring to real providers

Typical unsafe uses

  • Putting a bank's logo on your marketing site in a way that implies partnership
  • Using a mark in your own logo, product name, app icon, or domain
  • Suggesting endorsement, affiliation, or certification you do not have
  • Modifying a mark — recolouring, distorting, adding to it — and continuing to present it as the brand's

For contributors

By submitting a logo you confirm:

  • It came from an official source, which you have declared in the PR
  • You are not aware of brand guidelines that forbid its redistribution
  • You claim no ownership of the mark

If a brand kit explicitly forbids redistribution, do not submit the asset. Open an issue instead — the entity's metadata is still valuable, and the record can carry anull logo indefinitely.

For brand owners

If you own a mark in this dataset and want it changed or removed, open an issue titledtrademark: <brand>. Requests are honoured — we will remove the asset without arguing the merits.

Two things worth knowing before you ask:

We would rather host your correct logo than have developers use a wrong one.Removal does not stop your mark appearing in Indian fintech products; it just means the version in circulation is a stale screenshot someone scraped. If your objection is to a specific outdated or distorted asset, sending us the current one solves the problem better than removal does.

Metadata is separate from artwork. We can drop the SVG and keep the factual record — name, category, IFSC prefix, website — which is public information. Tell us which you want.
